Guide to choosing posting stakes

Guide to choosing posting stakes

When determining which posting sign to purchase it can seem as though they are all the same. What’s the difference between a 16” and 22” posting sign? The answer is more elaborate than just 6”. Each sign is designed to fit a different need, thus larger does not always equal better. Although they seem very similar, we hope to assist you in finding the best posting sign for your specific application.

Size

We offer three main posting signs, ranging from 16” to 22”. The Economy Stake is 16” overall, 2  inches of which are in the ground. The Clip Stick is 18” overall, 3” of which are in the ground. Finally, the Slim Stake is 22” overall, 3  of which are in the ground. While there are different head profiles for different purposes, certain states have specific regulations on how tall pesticide signage needs to be. If this applies, please check your states regulations before purchasing.

Signage Type

All of our posting signs are designed to accept 1mm PVC signage. This is in compliance with most pesticide and/ or yard application signage. While most signage being displayed is relatively the same, other aspects must be taken into consideration such as the size of the sign and conditions.

Max Signage Size

While the Economy Stake and Clip Stick are designed to receive a maximum of 6”x 9”, they are best suited for the standard 4” x 5” pesticide warning sign. For our Slim Stake, we recommend using signage with dimensions of 4” x 4”, but this stake can accommodate signs up to 4” wide by 8” tall. Signage requires a hole punched on the top edge and a thin slit for weaving the stake in the bottom edge.

Wind Resistance

In regards to wind resistance, our Clip Stick offers superior resistance. It is engineered with a larger “Clip” mechanism, allowing not only for a more grounded stake but also more surface area holding the sign. Although this is true, the Economy Stake and Slim Stake both hold up well in the wind; yet if they are pitted against one another, the Clip Stick offers more strength.

Head Profile

Starting with the Economy Stake and Clip Stick, both secure signage with the clip-style  head which features a button to secure signage. While a small hole needs to be punched out of the bottom of the sign, it offers great support. However, the Economy stake features a smaller, semi-oval shaped head in comparison to the Clip Sticks’ wider, semi-circle shaped head. The Clip Stick’s larger head offers great support in windy areas. The Slim Stake supports signage by weaving the stake through the sign through a hole cut at the top and thin slit cut bottom of the sign. A small notch in the stake secures signs at the top to prevent it from coming off.

Overall

While they are all designed to accept posting signs, slight differences make them unique to one’s desired application. From size overall to the head profile, these differences allow one to make a more tailored approach to posting signs.
