A question we often get, yet a serious consideration: between two of our flagship products, The Extreme Stake and the Spider Stake, which one is “best?” While they have multiple similarities, these two holders are best suited to a variety of display considerations. The two sign frames have the same recommended maximum signage dimensions and are constructed similarly, so how do you decide which one should be used?

Ground Entry Points
The Spider Stake features one spaded ground entry point, whereas the Extreme Stake has two spaded ground entry points. Dual ground entry points translates to a sturdier sign frame that can handle harsher environments. Our Extreme Stake has been wind tested up to 35mph.
Height
Regarding height, the Spider Stake has a slight edge on the Extreme Stake. This allows the sign to stand that much taller and visible, prompting attention from nearby pedestrians and drivers.
Max Signage Size
Both the Extreme Stake and Spider Stake are designed to support signage up to 18" H x 24" W. When considering supporting signage wider than 24” multiple stakes can be used to support a single sign, though we do not recommend exceeding 18" in height. The larger the signage, the greater the strain on the frame supporting it.
Weight
With over a 70% increase in weight, the Extreme Stake is a more grounded sign that is harder to knock over. This increase in weight, due to almost double the material, also helps promote longevity and durability. Many of our customers continue using their Extreme Stakes for years.
Wind Resistance
Finally coming to wind resistance, this is what many look at in deciding which sign to buy. Our Spider Stake offers great performance in regards to holding up to wind. However, it is outperformed by the Extreme Stake when higher winds are introduced. The Extreme Stake’s two ground entry points offer more wind resistance and stability to the sign.
Overall
While both are both great sign stakes, the Extreme Stake will outperform the Spider Stake in harsher weather. This is primarily due to its increase in ground entry points and higher weight, allowing it to be fully planted. Although this is true, the Spider Stake shines in providing an all-around excellent sign for less money. The Spider Stake is also easier to insert in stubborn, hard ground while maintaining superior signage support.
